The Middle East Initiative

 Combating Human Trafficking and Violence

The Middle East Initiative, a project spearheaded by a dedicated group including Joe, Dorcas, Spiderweb, Dr. James, and others, was born out of the urgent need to rescue and liberate our sisters from the harrowing conditions they face in the Middle East. Disturbingly, on average, five Ugandan girls lose their lives in this region. This initiative is our response to the grave issue of human trafficking and violence against Ugandans in the Middle East.

The Plight of Human Trafficking:
In recent times, we have witnessed a disturbing rise in recruitment agencies operating in Uganda, luring young men and women with the promise of employment opportunities in the Middle East. However, once these hopeful Ugandans arrive in the Middle East, they find themselves in a nightmarish situation. Their passports and mobile phones are confiscated by their supposed employers, leaving them entirely vulnerable.

Inhumane Working Conditions:
These exploited individuals endure inhumane working conditions, facing torture, sexual assault, and even the gruesome reality of organ trafficking, with many returning to Uganda in coffins, missing vital organs like kidneys. Tragically, only a handful manage to navigate this treacherous path without encountering severe problems.

The Suffering of Young Women and Men:
Young Ugandan women and men, our own brothers and sisters, are being trafficked and subjected to unspeakable violence in the Middle East. They toil under oppressive circumstances, receiving meager wages for grueling, unending hours of labor. The torment they face is further compounded by physical torture and starvation.

A Call to Action:
We implore you to join hands with us in our mission to end violence against women and girls. Together, let us shine a light on those who perpetrate these heinous human rights abuses and put a definitive stop to their reign of terror.

The Middle East Initiative by StandUpUganda is committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and advocating for the rights of our fellow Ugandans who have fallen victim to human trafficking and violence in the Middle East. Together, we can make a difference and bring an end to this heartbreaking crisis.

Please consider donating to support the repatriation of stranded Ugandans from the Middle East. Your contribution can make a significant difference by providing essential items such as food, airtime, and transportation. Thank you for your generosity.
